Where you can serve

Every intern will be involved in our church plants. You may also serve with Camp Rhino, Rhino Youth Home, Bay Baptist Academy, and/or Bay Baptist Bible College. There are opportunities to work with more than one missionary family.

Your responsibilities and schedule will be discussed with the team as part of the application process.

Length, living expenses, and transportation

  • Length: 1–12 months.
  • Estimated living expenses: approximately US$1,250 per person per month, including housing and food. Airfare is not included.
  • Transportation: plan to purchase a small car during your stay, especially if you are coming for longer than two months. You can sell it before leaving to recover part of the cost; the amount recovered will depend on the purchase and resale.

Discuss your full budget and travel arrangements with us before making commitments.

Who may apply

  • You must be a high school graduate.
  • You must have your pastor’s recommendation.
  • You must agree not to begin a new dating relationship during your internship without prior permission from your supervising missionary. This includes relationships with South Africans.

College credit and the VBM internship

There is an option to gain college credit. Let us know your college and what it requires so arrangements can be discussed before your internship begins.

You can also participate in Vision Baptist Missions’ six-month internship, which VBM requires for new missionaries applying to its board. Indicate your interest below so we can coordinate the requirements with you and VBM.

How the application process works

  1. Apply: share your proposed dates, ministry interests, church information, and experience using the form below.
  2. Talk with the team: we will follow up to discuss your plans and arrange your pastor’s recommendation.
  3. Confirm the details: acceptance, dates, supervision, ministry responsibilities, housing, transportation, budget, and any college or VBM requirements must be confirmed before you book travel.

Submitting an application does not guarantee acceptance or a particular placement.
